The syntax of the Qatari traditional house: privacy, gender segregation and hospitality constructing Qatar architectural identity

Socio-cultural factors are amongst the most prominent forces that reshape development of housing in Qatar when considering its vernacular architectural history. The research study uses space syntax analysis supported by other simulation and visualization techniques to examine extent which socio-cultural patterns influence spatial form traditional Qatari houses. findings reveal that, despite changes time across eras, patterns, namely, (i) privacy, (ii) gender segregation, (iii) hospitality, determine Knowledge obtained from this contributes construction identity, auspicated be referred along planned strategy for urban regeneration built environment (as envisioned through goals National Vision 2030).
